Unboxing and Assemble of Elegoo Smart Robot Car V4.0

A step-by-step unboxing and assembly walkthrough for the Elegoo Smart Robot Car V4.0, a popular Arduino-based robotics kit.

What's in the box

Acrylic chassis plates, four DC motors with wheels, an Elegoo Uno R3 board, an expansion hat, an ESP32-S3 Wi-Fi camera module, an ultrasonic sensor, a gyroscope module, a line tracking module, a servo motor, a rechargeable battery power box, an IR remote, mounting brackets, hardware bags with screwdrivers and electrical tape.

Putting it together

Assembly starts mechanically: bolting the four motors with aluminium blocks to the bottom chassis plate and installing the line tracking module underneath.

Next the gyroscope and expansion hat are stacked onto the Arduino board on the top plate, the camera and ultrasonic sensor are mounted on the servo bracket, and all motor leads, power connections and sensor cables are routed into the expansion hat before the wheels go on.

First power-on

Switching on the battery pack lights the standby LED, so the IR remote can be used straight away to confirm motor directions and speed settings. Connecting to the car's built-in Wi-Fi access point through the mobile app unlocks FPV camera streaming, remote steering, pan control and automated modes like obstacle avoidance and line tracking.
